Death of HR Associate, Jan Parkinson

One of the most well-known and respected HR directors in the public sector has died.

Jan Parkinson, formerly the managing director of Local Government Employers and corporate director at the Local government Association, sadly died on Friday 3rd January after a nine month battle with cancer. She was 51.

Jan was most recently the interim Chief Executive of the Employee relations institute and an associate of The HR Lounge Ltd. Prior to this she was Strategic Director at Gateshead council and spent many years in senior HR positions in the NHS. She was President of the Public Sector People management association in 2005 and was a non-executive director at a housing association, a visiting fellow at Northumbria University and a council member at Newcastle University.
